Fun Park Receives GrantPublished Wednesday, February 10, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneGov. Mike Huckabee has awarded $200,000 in Facilities for Underdeveloped Neighborhoods (FUN) park grants to 10 communities. The $20,000 grants are awarded to communities with populations of 2,500 or less that do not have basic outdoor recreation facilities. The Oak Grove community near Rosston received one of the grants. A basketball court, playground area, picnic pavilion with tables and a cooking grill, benches, litter receptacles and a parking area will be built with the grant. The FUN grant program is administered by the state Department of Parks and Tourism's outdoor recreation grant program. The 10 projects were recommended to the governor by the department's outdoor recreation grants advisory committee. The FUN program is funded through a portion of the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Grant and Trust Fund, which is financed by part of the state's real estate transfer tax.
