Ag Program Helps

Published Wednesday, February 10, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

EQIP is a new program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

It is designed to benefit farmland having natural resource problems affecting soil, water and wildlife.

Conservation priority areas are designated in each state to focus the majority of the funding. In addition, four non-priority area resource concerns have been identified for funding which include water quality, wildlife habitat, soil quality and water quantity.

This program provides technical and cost-share assistance to landowners interested in addressing resource problems in these designated areas of the state.

Land eligible for EQIP includes agricultural land that poses a serious problem to soil, water, wildlife and related resources.

Sign-up for this program ends February 19.

For more information contact the USDA Service Center office at 1030 Village Dr. in Arkadelphia, or call 870-246-9816, ext. 101. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
