The city of Gurdon Animal Control Department wants to remind you that it often has unclaimed dogs that would make wonderful pets. People are encouraged to adopt these animals and give them a good home. Call City Hall at 353-2514 or one can go by to look through pictures of available dogs for adoption.

The Beirne Rural Fire Department will sponsor a Sweetheart dance Saturday, February 13, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at the fire department.

Ticket prices are $5 per couple or $2.50 each. Children 12 and under free. For more detail, call 353-6525.

There will be a bake sale Saturday, February 20, at the City Park on Highway 67 South. The sale is sponsored by Operation Clean-Up Youths. The sale will start at 11 a.m. until sold out.

Hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be available.

There will be a St. Valentine's Day dinner at New Bethel Church Saturday, February 13. Tickets are $5 each. Sis. Bunnie Dixon is the program coordinator. All are invited to attend.

Carrie Street Church of God will hold its first women's assembly on February 14 at 3:00 p.m. Carolyn Crow will be the speaker.

Eastern Star Baptist Church youth will sponsor its fourth annual Valentine's program on February 14 at 2:30 p.m.

This year's theme is 'Bring a Sweetheart to Church.'

Guest churches will be Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Quintin Radford will bring the message. All churches are invited to attend

The Clark County Fair board meeting has been changed from February 11 to February 18 at 7:00 p.m at the fairgrounds.

The sixth annual Saw Mill Days Festival in Sparkman will be held on Saturday, April 3. Entertainment, crafters and food vendors are needed for the event. All proceeds benefit the Little League of Sparkman.

Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be in Gurdon February 18 at the Gurdon Municipal Building from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For an appointment, call 353-2514.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
