Chamber Banquet Set March 2BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, February 10, 1999 in the Gurdon Times This year's Gurdon Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be held Tuesday, March 2, at the Gurdon High School cafetorium. On this date, the teacher of the year and citizen of the year will be officially named for 1998. The speaker for this year's banquet is sure to be a crowd pleaser, as Chuck Dovish, of Travelin' Arkansas fame, with KTHV Channel 11 will share tales of his travels with the crowd. However, the teacher and citizen of the year are yet to be chosen, and the Chamber is seeking nominations for these two prestigious honors. Those wanting to make a nomination for either must submit a letter of recommendation detailing why their pick should be so recognized. Nominations for teacher and citizen of the year must be received by Feb. 16. They should be mailed to Gurdon Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 187, Gurdon, AR 71743-0187. "We feel like the citizens are what makes Gurdon such a unique and wonderful place to live," said Charles Shaver, Chamber president. "Our teachers," he continued, "make a tremendous contribution to our children. This award is our way of letting them know how much the community appreciates them." For more information on either the banquet or nominations for citizen and teacher of the year, contact the Chamber at 353-2661. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
