Arrrest Solves Two BurglariesBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, February 10, 1999 in the Gurdon Times One arrest solved two residential burglaries recently and recovered stolen property. According to a release from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Larry Dwain Wimberly, 29, of Gurdon, was arrested Thursday, Jan. 28, in Hot Springs by members of the Arkansas State Police after the ASP had been notified by the CCSO Wimberly was being sought in connection with the charge of possession of firearms by a certain person. This charge is better known as felon in possession of a firearm. A witness, who recognized Wimberly from an incident occurring Wednesday, Jan. 27, had seen the suspect traveling from Caddo Valley towards Hot Springs and called the CCSO. What followed was a routine stop and arrest, according to the report. An inventory of the vehicle was done by the troopers, who found several items of property reportedly stolen. These items were allegedly taken during the burglary of a Whelen Springs home earlier in the morning. The report of this burglary, the report states, was received almost simultaneously with the broadcast for Wimberly. Additionally, the CCSO investigators had found other items reportedly stolen from the Jan. 14, burglary of a home near Whelen Springs. This discovery was made Wednesday morning as well. Wimberly is expected to be formally arraigned before Clark County Circuit Judge John Thomas on charges filed by Prosecuting Attorney Henry Morgan. He has been charged with two counts of residential burglary. These are class B felonies, punishable by a possible jail sentence of not less than five nor more than 20 years. He was also charged with two counts of theft of property. These are class C felonies. Conviction can result in a prison sentence of not less than three nor more than 10 years. To cap it off, Wimberly was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. This charge is a class D felony, carrying a sentence of up to six years in prison. There was also a misdemeanor charge of theft of property which carries a sentence of up to a year in jail. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
