Those who went to Arkadelphia to sing at Twin Rivers Rehabilitation and Health Center on Thursday, February 11, were Earlene Self, Lloyd Baumgardner, Doug and Joyce Quillin, Elvin and Mary McBride, Emma Herron, Arlie Craig, Ross Carter, Charlyne Wells, Charlotte Shepherd, Daryl Potratz, Doris Potratz and me. We really enjoyed singing the old songs for the residents. It is always enjoyable with Daryl leading the singing and Doris playing the piano.

On Wednesday, February 10, eight senior adults from the Arkadelphia Center and four from Gurdon went to senior day at the state Capitol. A rally was held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Several issues regarding the increased funding for aging services were addressed including home care, home-delivered meals, senior center lunches and transportation.

Two couples are Valentine king and queen for the Gurdon Center: Joe Welch and Birdie Quarles and Junior Thrasher and Beatrice Stafford. A table of old and new photos were available for the seniors to see.

It was also the 24th anniversary of the Gurdon Senior Adult Center. the center was started in Gurdon on February 14, 1975. We are proud of our new building which we moved into in July of 1991.

Several new people have been added to our attendance. We are enjoying delicious meals and fellowship. We extend an invitation to all who are 60 or over to come and join us.

The center is a United Way Agency.
