Youth Program BeginningPublished Wednesday, February 17, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesApplications are now available for the after school spring recreation program for children ages 5-12 at Clark County Youth Development Center at 810 South Fifth Street. The program began on February 16 and will end on May 21. The program is offered daily, Monday through Friday, from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. The program will provide tutorial assistance in reading, math, science and language arts. Activities such as games, exercise (physical education), arts and crafts, music, drama and nutrition will be provided. There will be certified instructors and adults working in the program. The program is made possible through Arkansas Early Childhood Commission. Working parents or those parents enrolled in school may enroll their children in the program and the children will receive services if the parents meet the eligibility guidelines based on income. Other parents who would like for their children to participate in the program will be required to pay a daily fee based upon their income. Applications will be accepted on a first come basis. You should enroll your children at the center immediately. Anyone enrolled in the Gurdon Public Schools (ages 5-12) may participate in the program. The household size and income criteria identified by the State Childcare Commission will be used to determine eligibility for participation in the program.
