Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, September 22, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune We really did have wonderful homecoming at Cana AME Church Sunday. Rev. Andrew Banks really did a beautiful sermon. Andrew is the pastor's brother, Rev. Lesley Banks. There were quite a few from out of town. Our ex-pastor, Rev. Ennis Montgomery, was there. The Oak Grove reunion committee will meet Tuesday at 6:30 in the Oak Grove Civic League building in Rosston to plan for the year 2000 reunion. All alumni are invited. Girtie Blake is still on our sick list. Her nephew, James Charles, comes to see her every weekend. Our daycare center has closed its doors. I hate it for the working mothers. Our pastor and his wife's appreciation will be held the third Sunday in October at Cana AME Church. Rev. E. Jenkins will bring the message that afternoon and his church from Whites Chapel will be the guest choir. Irine Brooks and her sister, Janie M. Braddix went to Los Angeles, Calif., to visit their sister and sons. I am sure they will have a nice time. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
