Club Seeking DonationsBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, February 17, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune It's spring cleaning time again. However, this year, people are being urged to hang onto those useable items they no longer want or need and donate them to the Tri-Services Club. The club is working to raise money to purchase playground equipment for Prescott Elementary School and new stage curtains for the Prescott Middle School. It is doing this by seeking donations of useable clothing (men's, women's and children's), toys, games, books and small household items. Club members ask no large furniture pieces or major items be brought in for donations. Those with items to donate will be taking them to the Prescott National Guard Armory March 18-19 from noon until 6 p.m., and Saturday, March 20, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The items brought for donation will be sold to the ARC in Little Rock. This is a non-profit organization. The donations should be brought to the armory in boxes or bags for easier handling. Last year the Tri-Services Club donated $5,000 to the community. Of this, $4,000 went to Prescott's schools for different projects. The armory is located on West Gee Street behind the DeAnn Cemetery. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
