BoughtonMrs. Willie HooksPublished Wednesday, September 22, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune The annual House-Cagle and Rachel Brown family reunion was held Sunday, September 19, at the VFW building in Prescott. The group was called to order by the emcee, Floyd House. He recognized each family present of Grandma House. There were four of the Clara Cook family; five of the Lena Lowe family; two of the Jack Cagle family; six of the Nannie Kirkpatrick family; 22 of the Joe House family; 49 of the Jennie Ridgell family; six of the Wesley House family, nine of the Rachel Brown family and six visitors. There were approximately 109 present. Monroe Lowe was the oldest man present and Elsie Elmore was the oldest woman. Kenneth Wheeler came the longest distance and Ryan Elmore was the youngest baby. Faye Kirkpatrick led the group in singing Amazing Grace. The invocation was by Joel Ridgell. Everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner and fellowship. They plan to meet again next year on the third Sunday in September at the same time at the same place, VFW. Approximately 75 enjoyed an ice cream supper on the lawn of the home of Peat and Cathryn Jester and Jimmy Joe Saturday night. We enjoyed having our son Willie Hugh spend a couple of days and nights with us last week. Some of Syble Brown,s visitors last week were Mary Ann and Margie Lucas, Willie Hooks, Inez Allen, J.D. and Mildred Kelly and Launer and Arleen West. Our good friend, Hazel Meeks, is in St. Michael Hospital, room 460 north. She had a heart attack and spent last week in St. Michael at Texarkana. Remember her in prayers. Ten of the grandchildren, Herbert and Tennie Ridgell, Delores Thomas, Joy Shaver, Herbie and Paul Ridgell, Kay Wren, Tommy and Malvern Elmore, Cathryn Jester, Sue Austin and Peggy Roper met at the old home place Saturday for a picnic lunch. Other relatives attending were three aunts and one uncle, Elsie Elmore, Katie Pittman, Evelyn and Willie Hooks, Tommy Lynn and Paula Wheeler, Kenneth and Charles Wheeler, Kelsey Wren, Ashley Beck, Dawn Rudd, Margo Green and Lynn and Judy Mayes. Pam, Tony and Ryan Christian came later in the afternoon. Those visiting Katie Pittman, Sue Austin and Peggy Roper Sunday afternoon were Jason and Amy Crabtree, Tomeka, Cassidy and Tyler Crabtree and Wilma Compton.
