Susan Brannan of Prescott has been named to the president's list at Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) in Arkadelphia.

Tommy Poole of Prescott has been named to the dean's list at OBU.

Four hundred thirty-eight students have been named to the president's list and dean's list at OBU for the 1998 fall semester.

To be named to the president's list, a student must compile a 4.00 (straight A) grade point average and be classified as a full time student taking a minimum of 12 academic hours. Students making at least 3.5 grade point average and up to a 4.00 average for the semester are placed on the dean's list, according to Dr. Mike Arrington, vice president for academic affairs.

Lesley J. Walthall, a senior at Nevada High school, has been awarded an Alumni Scholarship to Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. The scholarship has a four-year value of over $7,900.

Walthall is the daughter of Bobby and Nancy Walthall of Waldo.

Elizabeth Purtle from Prescott is among 2,081 students enrolled for the fall semester at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee.

OSU-Okmulgee is the only college in Oklahoma established specifically for technical education. It offers college-level technical/occupational programs of study in 11 major disciplines.

Students graduating from OSU-Okmulgee can earn an associate in applied science degree and be certified by the college's unique graduate performance guarantee.

Purtle is enrolled in legal secretarial technology.

University of Arkansas at Hope has announced that Kristi Powell and Amy Rudd, both seniors at Nevada High School, have been awarded scholarships at the college in Hope.

Rudd will receive an academic scholarship and Powell will receive a technical scholarship.

The scholarships are based upon a A.C.T. score and/or grade point average plus a recommendation from a school official.

Powell is the daughter of Barbara Austin of Rosston and will be pursuing an EMT to paramedic certificate.

Rudd is the daughter of Raymond and Diane Rudd of Rosston and will be pursuing an associate of arts in general education.
