Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.

Mom's In Touch prayer group meets every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse on Thursday, February 25, and Thursday, March 25.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind checks. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213.

The Prescott gifted and talented program is now taking nominations for placement. Students need to be in the grades two through 11 and in the top percentile on their standardized test scores taken in the fall of 1998. Nomination forms are available by contacting either Sheila Jennings at Prescott Elementary School or Philip Holthoff at Prescott Middle School.

A Chamber of Commerce coffee will be sponsored by the Bank of Prescott on February 24 (today) from 9:30 to 11:00 in the Bank of Prescott employee lounge. Everyone is invited to attend.

SWADC has announced English as a second language tutoring is now available. Learning to read and write better in English is a skill that challenges many adults in the nation and in this area. Literacy also includes problem-solving and higher level reasoning skills.

The annual Mt. Moriah Cemetery Association will meet on Monday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Church.

The annual financial statement will be reviewed, officers will be elected and the maintenance contract will be discussed. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Mark and Karen Bridges of Magnolia announce the birth of their first daughter, Kelly Renee. She was born January 28, 1999, at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden.

She weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Jim and Janis Riley of Bodcaw. Great grandparents are Corrine and the late Melton Brockman of Stamps and the late Guy and Callie Riley of Bodcaw.

Paternal grandparents are Malcolm and Laura Bridges of Willisville and Sallie Bridges of Mt. Vernon, Texas. Great grandparents are Sanders and the late Olga Bridges of Magnolia and the late Sidney and Arrie Strickland of Mt. Vernon, Texas.

Jake and Carol Tyree are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Katie Elizabeth Tyree.

Katie was born on January 31, 1999, at 6:33 a.m. at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. She weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 20 inches long.

The Emmet School board will have its regular meeting Monday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in room 4.

The agenda will include the building program, elementary and high school principals' report, superintendent's report, consider changing to 9-week grading periods, bids on bus shop building, bids on air conditioner units and personnel matters.

Singing, featuring Cross Roads and Messengers of Hope, will be held at Boughton Baptist Church Saturday, Feb. 27, at 6:00 p.m.

The Hope Quilters Guild will hold its monthly meeting Monday, March 1, at 7:00 p.m. in the Citizens National Bank conference room. Those attending should take a small embroidery hoop for a silk ribbon class.

Emmet Vision Association (EVA) will have a chili supper Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Emmet Chuck Wagon. The supper costs $3 for adults and $2 for children under 12 years of age.

EVA uses its funds for various community functions, including the purchase of Christmas lights and decorations, the Nevada County Weather Center and others projects to beautify Emmet.

Prescott First Church of the Nazarene is having a youth revival February 26, 27 and 28. The revival will start at 7:00 p.m. on the Feb. 26 and 27, and at 9:45a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the Feb. 28.
