Class A West District Tournament Recap

Emmet's junior girls got last week started off right, but faltered in their second game of the Class A West District Tournament.

Winning the junior division Friday night were Saratoga boys and the Bradley girls.

On the senior bracket, Bradley took everything Saturday night.

In the first game Emmet's juniors defeated Bright Star 34-28, but had to play the following night and lost to Bradley, 55-26.

Susan Tipton of Emmet was the game's leading scorer with 13 points against Bright Star.

Patricia Love added 12 points for the winners.

Others scoring for Emmet were Haley Muldrow with 6 points and Jeana Gutierrez added 2 points.

Two players, Analya Henderson and Amanda Larue, scored 8 points apiece for Bright Star.

Against Bradley Susan Tipton scored 10 points for Emmet, but Bradley had four players in double figures as the junior Lady Dragons controlled the game from the beginning.

Also scoring for Emmet were Patricia Love with 6 points and three players, Natoiya Reed, Haley Muldrow and Jeana Gutierrez, scored 4 points each.

Casondra Earley of Bradley was the game's leading scorer with 21 points. Deidra Larry scored 16 for Bradley, Regina Brown scored 12 and Neysha Grigsby finished with 10 points for the winners.

In the last game on Monday of last week the Emmet junior boys were eliminated by Spring Hill 49-47.

Cody Askew of Spring Hill was the game's leading scorer with 19 points.

However, Eugene Hopson of Emmet was right behind him with 17 points. Kerry Love of Emmet had 10 points for the junior Eagles.

Others scoring for the Emmet junior boys were Grant Kirkpatrick with 9 points, Devan McClellan had 5, Jacob Dearinger 4 and Danny Casto finished with 2 points.

On Wednesday in game 3, the Spring Hill senior girls took out Emmet by 68-27.

Rose Martin of was the game's leading scorer with 19 points. Amber Dougan scored 10 points for the Lady Eagles and Linda Stephens had 3.

However, three players for Spring Hill were in double figures. Ashley Whatley scored 13 points and Lexie Bobo and Amanda Thompson finished with 11 points each.

The final game on Wednesday was just a devastating for the Emmet teams as the Eagles were eliminated by the Bright Star senior boys 61-54.

The game's leader scorers were Marcus Smith and Ricky Hurt of Emmet, who finished with 21 and 20 points respectively.

Others scoring for the Eagles were Dee Muldrow with 9 points, Carl Hurt had 8, Don Paul Mitchell 7 and Jim Faulkner scored 5 points.

Collin Simpson of Bright Star scored 17 point, Donald Allen and Michael Martin scored 14 apiece and Stephen Patterson had 11.
