One Dead In AccidentPublished Wednesday, February 24, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneA three-vehicle accident in Hempstead County left one dead and one injured Friday, Feb. 12. According to reports, the accident occurred near the Ozan community on U.S. Highway 278 about a mile north of the community. A mini-van, driven by Marvin Levi Kropf, 16, of Ozan, reportedly crossed the center line and hit a southbound Hempstead County sanitation truck, driven by Donald Lee Rex, of Hope. Rex was not injured in the accident. The Kropf vehicle then collided with a car driven by Athen White, 59, of Emmet. White was taken to Medical Park Hospital in Hope, but was not injured.
