Mrs. James Martella Burns

Mrs. James Martella Burns,81, of Gurdon died Sunday, February 21,1999, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

She was born February 19, 1918, the daughter of Mollie and Mostella Hart in Arkadelphia. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Vivian Lemons of Donaldson and a brother, Lee Edward Hart. She was a housewife and a member of Red Springs Baptist Church of Gurdon.

Mrs. Burns is survived by her husband of 61 years, Emmett M. Burns, of Gurdon and four children, Jerry H. Burns and Robert M. Burns, also of Gurdon, and Molly C. Hasley and Jim Burns of Arkadelphia. She raised one grandson, Bro. Paul E. Burns of Van Buren and was loved dearly by eight grandchildren, Charles, Jason, Mike, John, Randy, Brian, Eddie, and Carl, eight great grandchildren, Carrie, Junet, Jessie, Tyler, Krissi, Josiah, Amber and Curt, and one great great grandchild.

A praise service was Tuesday, February 23, at Horne Chapel in Gurdon with Bro. Garland Brackett, Bro. Gary Turner and Bro. Paul Burns leading the service. Internment was in Unity Cemetery under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
