STAMPS What was expected to be a test for the

Curley Wolves turned into a rout as Prescott posted

a 57-0 win over the Lafayette County Cougars.

The opening toss was the only thing the Cougars

won on the night. Lafayette County deferred until

the second half, giving Prescott the ball first.

Three plays into the game the Wolves were up 7-

0, in a drive that covered 60 yards and took 1:01 off

the clock. The score came on a 25-yard run by

DeMarcus Collier, the first of four for him in the

game.

The Cougars rarely ventured into Wolf territory

and wound up punting the ball away on its first possession.

Prescott took over at its 25, drove the length of

the field and put another six on the board when

Collier went in from the two. The point after was no

good, but the Wolves were up 13-0 with 3:08 showing

in the first.

Scoring drive number two required 15 plays.

The home fans were stunned to see their Cougars

being treated so shabbily so early. They would see

the treatment continue throughout the contest.

Following Prescotts second score the Cougars

were three and out, again punting to the Wolf 25.

Termain Hendeson picked up 11 on first down,

with Collier carrying three time to the Cougar 37.

Kalin Hall moved the ball to the 25 as the first period

came to an end.

The second quarter was even more brutal as

Prescott put 29 points on the board and ensured the

mercy rule would be in effect when the second half

started.

Two plays into period two Henderson went in

from five-yards out. The PAT made it 20-0.

The Cougars started on the 20, only to see quarterback

Tyler Downs sacked for a safety as the

Wolfpack defense was tenacious. This put Prescott

up 22-0 with more than10 minutes left in the half.

The kick was short, with Prescott taking over at

the Cougar 47. Henderson found C.J. Smith at the

25, taking it in for six on the next play. This made it

28-0 as the PAT was no good.

Following an offside penalty on the kick, the

Cougars returned the kick to the 43. Lafayette

County crossed midfield for the first time, getting to

the Wolf 47.

The drive ended with Jason Mulholland picking

off a pass, returning it to the Cougar 30.

Hall stepped under center to start the offensive

series for Prescott, tossing to T. Henderson, who

winged the ball to Jermaine Henderson for six. The PAT made it 35-0 with

8:30 left in the half.

It was three and out for the

Cougars, with Prescott also

being stopped (for the first

time) on its next drive.

At no point did the Cougars

show signs of life in the game.

The Wolves final score of the

half came on a one-yard run by

Rashad Blakely with 2:39 to go.

The PAT made it 42-0 as

Prescott was on cruise control.

Lafayette County ran four

plays before fumbling the ball

away with Prescott recovering

at the Cougar 28.

It looked like Prescott was

going in for another score, but

time ran out with Prescott on

the 15.

The Cougars were on

offense to start the third quarter,

and promptly fumbled the ball

with Prescotts Jacob Clark

returning it to the Lafayette

County one.

It took Collier two attempts

to get into the promised land for

the third time. The PAT made it

49-0 with 9:21 left.

The Cougars began at their

22, moved to the Prescott 35,

and saw Hall pick off Downss

pass at the Wolf 20.

A penalty moved the ball to

the 15. Collier took the handoff,

found a seam and raced 84

yards before he fumbled.

However, the ball went into the

end zone, where he recovered

for six more. The point after

was blocked, but Prescott was

up 55-0, and it was sub time for

the Wolves.

Coach Greg Smith filled the

field with substitute players for

the remaining 12 minutes.

The Cougars ran three plays,

losing a yard to end the third,

punting to open the final frame.

Prescotts subs moved the

ball to the Cougar 21 before

turning it over on downs.

To add insult to injury, the

Wolves added a second safety

when a bad snap on fourth

down was recovered by

Lafayette County in the end

zone with three minutes to go.

Prescott held the Cougars to

109 total yards, recovered two

Lafayette County fumbles and

picked off one Downs pass.

Collier carried 20 times for

250 yards and four touchdowns.

Prescotts offense racked up

392 yards on the ground,

adding 70 more in the air for

462 total yards.

The Wolves return to the

friendly confines Friday night

for a date with Parkers Chapel.

Kickoff is set for 7:30.
