Myrtle MatthewsPublished Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMyrtle Mickey Matthews, 80, of Hope, died Sept. 25, 2008, in Hope. She was born to T.W. and Margaret Siminson Weathersby, June 22, 1928 in El Dorado. She was a homemaker, member of the First United Methodist Church of Hope, member of Prime Timers and owner of the Elegant Knit Machine. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles Chuck Matthews. She is survived by two sons, Barry Matthews and wife, Barbara of Jacksonville and Van Matthews and wife, Kathleen of Universal City, Texas; one daughter, Linda Brizzi and husband, Keith of Pine Grove, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Thomas J. Matthews and wife, Betty of Allen, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Jerry Densmore of Euless, Texas and Betty Matthews of Bentonville; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. The chapel service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home with Dr. Tandy Hanson officiating. The interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home. The visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Services were entrusted to Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home, Inc.
