Nevada Budget ApprovedBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, September 22, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune In a rare afternoon meeting the Nevada School Board approved the budget for the 1999-2000 school year. The meeting was held Tuesday, Sept. 14, so the budget could be sent to the Arkansas Department of Education by the Wednesday, Sept. 15 deadline. According to Nevada Superintendent Rick McAffee, the budget for this year will be $3,096,699. Students at the Nevada School are in the midst of taking the SAT-9 tests as mandated by the state. McAffee said everything seems to be going well, and hopes the scores reflect the effort being put into the testing. The board also approved two occasions of out of state travel. One allows the Future Farmers of America to go to the national convention in Louisville, KY, the last week in October, while the other will see McAffee and NHS Principal Blake Epperson visit Phoenix, AZ, for a continuing education conference Sept. 27-28. The board also recommended Jerry Bishop be named as the region 12 director for the Arkansas School Board Association. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
