George "Dewey" DixonPublished Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in the Gurdon TimesGeorge Dewey Dixon George Dewey Dixon, 88, of Gurdon, entered into his heavenly home with Jesus his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center, Arkadelphia. He was born on March 26, 1920, in the South Fork Community of Gurdon, the son of the late George Columbus Shorty Dixon and Nellie Callaway Dixon. He retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad as a locomotive engineer after 32 years. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Gurdon, Arkansas and was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Dr. Don Dixon. Survivors include: His wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Francis Dixon, of Gurdon; two daughters: Kay Hogue and Charles, of Sherwood, Beverly Baggett of Little Rock; three ggrandchildren: David Hogue, of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Hogue of Sherwood, Stacey Page and Lanny of Little Rock; three great-grandchildren: Tyler Page, Ashley Page and Brittany Hogue; two sisters: Mary Harris and Gene; Betty Jones and Henry; one brother: Grady Dixon and Eula Mae and sister-in- law, Evelyn Dixon. Funeral Services were Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, Gurdon, Gurdon, with the Rev. Gregg Burks and the Rev. Rusty Jones officiating.
