Laverne PruittPublished Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Laverne Glass Pruitt, 78, of Caney, passed away on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope. She was born on November 7, 1929, in Laneburg, to Henry E. and Bertha Grimes Glass. She was a homemaker and mother and a seamstress and caregiver. She was a member of Morris Baptist Church in Caney. She was also a great cook who loved to cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Pruitt, who died in 1986; by one sister, Barbara Glass and one greatgrandson, Tyler Gourley. Survivors include two daughters, Shirla Brown and Mike and Marcia Rhodes and Bill, all of Caney; two sisters, Geneva Hogans of Emmet and Phene Cook of North Little Rock; six grandchildren, Wayne Robbins and Carrie of Genoa, Scott Robbins and Michelle of Laneburg, John Robbins of Lumberton, Texas, Christy Gourley and Wayne of Caney, Brandon Rhodes and Shelly and Michael Brown, all of Caney; fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other family and friends. The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Morris Baptist Church in Caney, with Revs. Tal Webb, Sam Tamburo, and Raymond Hicks officiating. Burial to follow in Caney Cemetery in Caney. The arrangements will be by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. The family received friends, Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 6-8 p.m., at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
