Waldo man charged, held in rape caseBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in the Nevada County Picayune A Waldo man has been charged in the rape of a minor. Clayton Otis Elliott, 32, 193 E. N 147, Waldo, was charged in Nevada County and has appeared in court locally, according to court records. An order filed by Eighth Judicial District Circuit Judge Randy Wright and on file with the Nevada County Circuit Clerks office sealed information about the case to protect the identity of the minor victim. According to court records available, the offense dates range from December of 2007 to July of 2008 and the victim was less than fourteen years of age. The charges were filed Sept. 4 shortly after 9 a.m. by Eighth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Ashley Parker. Court records indicate that Elliott was in court on Sept. 4. He is represented by public defender Anthony Biddle. Elliott is charged with a single count of rape, a class Y felony that carries a tern of ten to forty years or life in prison.
