Charles Chuck Matthews

Charles Chuck Matthews, 82, of Hope, died Aug. 24, 2008, in Hope.

He was a retired Chief Master Sgt. for 30 years in the Air Force and tax preparer for 25 years. She was born Jan. 25, 1926 in Bonham, Texas to Dero and Edith Pearl Davidson Matthews. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hope, member of the Air Force Association and Air Force Sergeants Association, member of Toast Masters International, and former Bodcaw Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 59 = years, Myrtle Weathersby Matthews of Hope; two sons, Barry and wife Barbara Matthews of Jacksonville and Van and wife Kathleen Matthews of Universal City, Texas; one daughter, Linda and husband Keith Brizzi of Pine Grove, Calif.; one brother, Thomas J. and wife Betty Matthews of Allen, Texas; one sister, Jerry Densmore of Euless, Texas; one sister-in-law, Betty Matthews of Bentonville; six granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Visitation was Friday, Aug. 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home of Hope.

The funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. in the Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tandy Hanson officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery with full military honors under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
