Ruth Cloud

Mrs. Ruth Emma Carrington Cloud, 94, of De Queen, and a former resident of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, Aug. 20 at her home.

She was born to Sidney and Edna Mautz Carrington in Prescott, on Dec. 8, 1913. She was a homemaker and a member of the De Queen Church of Christ. She enjoyed needlepoint and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Sidney R. Carrington; a sister, Elizabeth Meador, and her husband of over 52 years, Ural Edgar Cloud.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marybeth and Bryce Harmon of De Queen; two grandchildren, Hollye and her husband Barry Watkins of De Queen and Brett and his wife Heather Harmon of Nashville; four great-grandchildren, Brennan and Braxton Watkins of De Queen and Addison and Rayleigh Harmon of Nashville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Van Ledbetter, minister officiating. The burial was in the De Ann Cemetery in Prescott, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25. Elizabeth Haynie

Mrs. Elizabeth Aunt Pig Haynie, 91, of Bluff City, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1916, in Nevada County, Bluff City, to the late Tom and Lillie Weaver Gulley. She was a homemaker. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Union Grove Baptist Church. She served as President of the Mothers Board and choir for many years and was a participant of the Womens Mission, Cooking Ministry and the Community Singing Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Haynie and one daughter, Charlene Kelley.

She is survived by one daughter, Bertha Parish and Melvin of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Vernall Gulley and Dorothy of Gurdon and Otis Box and Linda of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Burma Dean Purifoy of Bluff City; one brother, Herman L. Gulley of Gurdon; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Bluff City, with Rev. Fred Walters and Pastor Leon Parham officiating. The burial was in Union Grove Cemetery in Bluff City. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

The family wake was Friday, Aug. 22, from 7-8 p.m., at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
