Lawanda BlountPublished Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Lawanda J. Norton Haddix Blount, 70, of Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Hope. She died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, in Mercy Hospital in Baton Rouge, La. She was born on May 13, 1938, in Nash, Texas, to Marvin and Maudie Norton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Alfred A. Haddix Sr.; one granddaughter, Amanda Millican; one brother, Elmer Norton and one sister, Demple Norton. Her survivors include her husband, Monroe Blount of Baton Rouge, La.; one son, Allen Haddix of Russellville; one daughter, Charlotte Webers of Hope; three grandsons, Kenny Hodges of Cleveland, Texas, Joseph Metrogene of Denim Springs, La., and Justin Millican of Ozark; two granddaughters, Marion Davis and Dorian Teague, both of Prescott; two step-grandsons, Wayne Sikes of Russellville and Dale Wright of Russellville; thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The memorial gravesided service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at Macedonia Cemetery in Hope, with Rev. Oliver McKamie officiating. The burial followed.
