Ralph StewartPublished Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Ralph Edward Stewart, 80, of Prescott, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at St. Josephs Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs, after a short illness. He was born on May 1, 1928, in Nevada County, to Robert Kelso and Josephine Tubb Stewart. He worked on his fathers farm and graduated from Laneburg High School in Laneburg, in 1947. He was a Presbyterian. He, his wife and sons, traveled the U.S. and Canada building pipelines across the country. After making a home in Alvin, Texas in 1979, Ralph and Mary Ann then retired in Prescott in 1993, where he continued to work his Laneburg farm. He was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Smith Stewart of Prescott; three sons, Vic A. Stewart and Melanie H. of Houston, Texas, Rick L. Stewart of Farmerville, La., and Marc E. Stewart and Lauron S. of Friendswood, Texas; seven grandchildren, Robert Kelso Stewart II and Kelley Krancher Stewart of The Woodland, Texas and their children, Morgan, Madison and Macy Messing, Thomas Wayne Lyon of Beaumont, Texas and their children, Olivia, Valerie and Natalie, Jason Ross Lyon of Waco, Texas, Joseph Hilliard Stewart, Lydia Jane Stewart, Madeline McCulloch and Sarah Claire Stewart. The funeral service was at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 15, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Homofin Prescott, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. The burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Rosston. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott. Memorials may go to Mt. Moriah Cemetery Assoc., c/o Janie Franklin, 812 Mt. Moriah Rd., Rosston, AR 71857. The family received friends Thursday, Aug. 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
