Nevada Schools will start Monday, Aug. 18,

with a full staff of teachers, including several new

faces.

Rachel Covington is one of those. Covington

will be teaching kindergarten at Nevada

Elementary School. With just more than a week

left to prepare for the first day of school,

Covington spent a recent afternoon at the school

getting ready to welcome her students. She said

shes been told to expect about 18 or 19 and that

shes excited.

Covington is a graduate of Southern Arkansas

University of Magnolia and a resident of Taylor.

She said she substituted at NES last spring and

was immediately taken with the school. The

moment she knew there was an opening, she

applied.

I like the small school atmosphere, she said,

taking time from her prep work.

Covington said she elected kindergarten

because of the students.

Theyre excited to learn, she said. They

really want to learn. Everything is new and exciting.

The roster of teachers at Nevada includes four

new staff members. Joining Covington are Steven
