Beatrice Dougan

Mrs. Beatrice Otwell Dougan, 91, of Prescott, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.

She was born on Sept. 4, 1916, in Emmet to Penny Parks Otwell and Etta Mae Sampson Otwell. She was a homemaker, a member of the Prescott Church of Christ in Prescott, mother of ten children, and mother to many, many more. She felt flowers were for the living and freely shared those she grew with those who would only ask. She called them Gods Garden because they belonged to Him and not her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Oscar Lee Dougan; one son, Charles Lee Dougan; three brothers; five sisters; and two grandsons, John David Dougan and Joe D.J. Dougan Jr.

Her survivors include seven sons, Penny Dougan and Joy, Johnnie Dougan and Pam, Donnie Dougan and Tim Dougan and Pam, all of Prescott, Archie Dougan and Marilyn of Traskwood, Richard Dougan and Carolyn of El Dorado, and Ronnie Dougan and Susan of Palm Bay, Fla.; two daughters, Susie Dougan of Prescott and Anita Foster and Paul of Sutton; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Orren Dougan of Prescott; one sister, Edith Garner and Charles of Camden; twenty-four grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 19, at Prescott Church of Christ in Prescott, with Mr. Harley Sisson, Mr. Paul Robison, and Mr. Lynn Vanderveer officiating. The burial was in Snell Cemetery in Emmet. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

The family received friends Friday, July 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
