William P. "Bill" Oliver

Mr. William P. Bill Oliver, 59, of Prescott, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born on Dec. 15, 1948, in Prescott, to William James Red Oliver and Blanche Lee Smith Oliver. He was a self-employed logger and showed American Quarter Horses. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Prescott; lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association; and member of the National Snaffle-Bit Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Penelope Jane Penny Oliver of Prescott; one son, William Dean Oliver of Prescott; his mother, Blanche L. Oliver of Prescott; two brothers, Terry C. Oliver and James A. Jimmy Oliver, both of Prescott; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was at 10 a.m., Monday, July 21, at Central Baptist Church of Prescott, with Revs. Perry Johnson and Neal Ridling officiating. The burial was in DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

The family received friends Sunday, July 20, from 2-4 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 605 East Second St. South, Prescott, AR 71857.
