Douglas BrantleyPublished Wednesday, July 16, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Douglas Ward Brantley, 73, of DeAnn Community of Hope, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at his home. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church and was a former youth leader there also; member of Cattlemens Association; V.F.W. of North Carolina; Teamsters Union; North American Hunting Club and was an Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald and one sister, Christine Gilpatrick. His survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty Sams Brantley of DeAnn; four special nieces and nephews, Rheana Jester of DeAnn, Colton and Dillion Jester, both of Camden, Damion Jester of DeAnn; his mother-in-law, Bertha Ree Sams of Emmet; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Carl and Alita Sams, Carolyn and Larry Harper, and Ida Goins, all of Prescott, Johnny and Robin Sams of Little Rock, Elaine and Gary Cross of Hope, and Troy Goins of Warren; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored him also. The funeral service was at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, at Midway United Methodist Church in Prescott, with Rev. Jimmy Teeter officiating. The burial was in Midway Cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements were by Brazzle/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope. The family received friends Monday, July 14, from 6-8 p.m., at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
