Wanda East

Mrs. Wanda Lee East, 80, of Hope, died Monday, July 7, 2008, at St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born Aug. 24, 1927, in DeAnn, to Sidney Jefferson and Cora L. Willis Burke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Charlie East and one daughter, Patricia Ann East Volentine.

She was survived by one son, Curtis East of Hope; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Barton and Sammy of Lewisville; one sister, Charlene Reeves of Nashville; five grandchildren, Tracy Canning and Jeremy of Texarkana, Tyler Barton and Lindsey of Buckner, Kathleen Minton and Jason of Story, Alisha Nipper and Troy of Texarkana, Texas, and Daniel Barton of Lewisville; and one great-grandchild, Teyton Barton of Buckner.

Wanda was the much loved aunt of many nieces and nephews and friends. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Hope. Wanda dedicated her life to her family and the Lord. She was the longtime owner of Wandas Grocery in Hope, which she loved operating and taking care of her customers.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, with Revs. Dwayne Parish and Mark Faulkner officiating. The burial was in Shover Springs Cemetery in Shover Springs. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

The family received friends Tuesday, July 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
