New county maps plannedBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, July 16, 2008 in the Nevada County Picayune The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, Nevada County 911 Office and the Nevada County Picayune are teaming up to create a new county map. Nevada County 911 Coordinator Dale Booker said there will be very few changes to the map itself, but that the new maps will be more attractive due to additional color. Chamber Director Brandy Jones said the maps are a service of the chamber for those who live and work in Nevada County. Weve always done this, Jones said. Nevada County Economic Development Director Mary Godwin said the maps change every three or four years. Its a service we provide for people coming into the county and people living here, Godwin said. The maps are provided free to anyone who requests one. The maps are paid for by advertisers. Ads are being sold through the Nevada County Picayune and the Hope Star. Godwin said local businesses are often contacted about advertising on maps that are not officially sponsored by the Chamber, EDO or any other local entity, but are portrayed as having a local endorsement. We want the local businesses to know this is the official map, Godwin said. Nevada County Picayune Publisher George Jinks said the map will be color on both sides and will have a glossy finish. For more information about advertising on the map, contact Mary at 777-8841 or call the Picayune at 887-2002. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
