Betty RagsdalePublished Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneBetty Jane Gavin Ragsdale, 69, of Malvern, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born Dec. 6, 1938, in Harper Township, Cleveland County, to RC and Marguerite Coats Gavin, and received her early education in Cleveland County, graduating from Woodlawn High School. She was co-publisher and former owner of the Nevada County Picayune in Prescott and The Gurdon Times. She was a member of Tanner Street Church of Christ in Malvern. Survivors include her husband, John Ragsdale, whom she married May 29, 1957, in Pine Bluff; a son, John R. Ricky Ragsdale and Teresa of McGehee; two daughters, Phyllis Jackson and John of Malvern and Lisa Beebe and Tom of Bella Vista; a brother, Don Gavin and Linda of Woodlawn; three grandchildren, Jessica Keisler of Conway, Jordan Wright of Malvern, and R.C. Ragsdale of McGehee. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Dustin Miller Harris and a brother, Bobby R. Gain. The funeral service was Thursday, June 19, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Mr. Don McClain officiating. The burial was in Pansy Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and So.
