Council now at capacity

For the first time in several months, the Prescott City Council is operating with a full board.

Jorge Nassar, former mayor of Prescott, was sworn in at the beginning of the June 16 meeting of the council.

The seat was vacated by Elaine Williams several months ago when Williams announced that she had moved from her ward. Williams seat remained vacant for those intervening months with Prescott Mayor Howard Taylor saying he planned to wait until after the primary election to determine who would be elected to that seat for the coming term. Nassar was the only candidate to file an intention to see that seat.

During the swearing in, Nassar repeated a portion of the oath but said he couldnt hear the remaining part of Taylors instruction, prompting Taylor to say, You did fine, and instruct Nassar to take his seat.
