Annie HubbardPublished Wednesday, June 18, 2008 in the Gurdon TimesRev. Annie Clardy Hubbard, 81, of Gurdon, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Hospice Home Care, Inc., in Little Rock. She was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Nashville, the daughter of Sanford and Hencie Smith Clardy. She was a pastor and an elementary school teacher for 28 years. She was a graduate of Henderson State University. She was a member of Muldrew Chapel CME Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver Hubbard; three brothers, Allen Clardy, Fletcher Clardy and R.C. Clardy; seven sisters, Dorothy Childs, Lela Charles, Betty Penny, Hessie Clardy, Pearline Clardy, Addie Clardy and Dorcie Clardy. She is survived by her children: Wanda Monroe and Lynda Rucker of Sherwood, Brenda Foster of Allen, Texas, and Jimmy Ray Hubbard of Crossett; one sister, Willie Jean Goza of Detroit, Mich.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11, at 1 p.m. in Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon, with the Rev. Quinton Radford, eulogist and the Rev. James Wiley III, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hedge Cemetery by Williams Funeral Home. Visitation was held Tuesday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. The pallbearers were Michael Foster, Myron Henry, Jerome Caldwell, Micah Henderson, Linwood Johnson, Clifford Monroe, Christopher Monroe and Keone Penny. Honorary pallbearers were Eudios Goza, Earnest Peoples, Richard Graham, Douglas Foster, Ronnie Lasker, Rickey Penny and Earl Brisco.
