Roast and Toast for Smithson to raise money for new auditoriumJoe PhelpsPublished Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in the Gurdon Times In an effort to raise funds for the new Cabe Auditorium at Gurdon High School and perhaps to give the man a hard time a roast and toast event will be held Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m., for retiring Superintendent Bobby Smithson. The event, titled Hats off to Bobby Smithson Roast will be held in the Gurdon High School Cafetorium. Ticket prices are $15 and can be purchased at First State Bank, The Cabe Offices or at US Bank. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Gurdon School Auditorium complex, which is to be completed within the next year. This is an opportunity for us to honor Bobby for his service to the Gurdon School District and the community, said event organizer Anita Cabe.
