Gary Morehead

Gary Don Morehead, 60, of Bodcaw, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at his residence.

He was born June 10, 1947, in Bodcaw, to Bruce and Mary Clark Morehead. Mr. Morehead worked at Tims Grocery Store in Lewisville for 26 years before going to CMC Steel in Magnolia. He enjoyed working in hayfields and with his cows. He was a war veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He also hosted 21 exchange students from different countries in his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Mary Clark; brother, Denver Morehead and a granddaughter, Kristen Russell.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Eva Jean Foster Morehead of Bodcaw; son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Chasity Morehead of Bodcaw; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Jeff Russell of Bodcaw and Cheryl and Kevin Atkinson of Conway; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Imojean Morehead of Mt. Enterprise, Texas and Charles and Reba Morehead of Bodcaw; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Terry Hanson of Waldo; nine grandchildren, Matt and Kaitlin Russell, Derek and Raeleigh Morehead, and Stephanie, Dakota, Madison, and Sarah Atkinson, three uncles and five aunts; a special army buddy, Donald and Maxine Pitts of Panama City, Fla., as well as many other family and friends.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with burial to follow in the Shiloh Methodist Cemetery in Falcon, with Bros. Byron Mann and Arlie Kyzer officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Visitation was Monday, May 19, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
