Woman charged for cutting PPD officerBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in the Nevada County Picayune A Prescott woman has been charged with assault after allegedly striking a Prescott Police officer with a knife. Patricia Hendrix, 40, 350 E. First St, was arrested after officers were called to her residence shortly before 9:30 p.m. on April 16 regarding a disturbance involving a weapon. According to court records, PPD Assistant Chief Ann Jordan arrived at the home to find a complainant alleging that Hendrix had become belligerent and then had pulled a knife. When the officers arrived, Hendrix reportedly had the knife and a pair of scissors beside her, and was lying on the couch. When officers cited her for the apparent intoxication and making the threat, and placed her in handcuffs, Hendrix reportedly became violent, screaming, cursing and attempting to strike us with her hands and feet. According to Jordans report, PPD officers Danny Martin and Jamie Yarbrough took Hendrix into custody though she continued to resist. The repots stated that while Yarbrough was attempting to conduct a search of Hendrixs pockets, she managed to pull a knife from one of her pockets and swung with it. Yarbrough was apparently not injured but Jordan received a cut on the thumb. Jordan notes in her report that Hendrix was subsequently arrested, charged with battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and carrying a prohibited weapon.
