Human remains found in Nevada County Monday

are being sent to the State Crime Lab for identification.

The skeletal remains were discovered by a logging

crew Monday morning, May 19, according to

Nevada County Sheriff Bobby Carlton.

Carlton said a logging crew in the lower part of

Nevada County made the discovery.

They were skidding logs and the driver looked

over and saw a skull sticking out of a hole, Carlton

said.

It appears that the body had been buried in a shallow

grave and that recent rains had exposed the bones.

Carlton said there is speculation regarding the identity but said it will take the crime lab analysis of dental records to make positive identification.
