Floyd LeverettPublished Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Floyd Donald Leverett, 85, of Hope, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008, in a Hot Springs Hospital. He was born October 8, 1922, in Blevins, to Clarence Leverett and Verna Lee Foster Leverett. He was former president and salesman for Logans Grocery Company of Prescott; member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Hope; member of Mens Bible class; and Army Air Corp veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary E. Davis Leverett, who died in 1995; his brother, Lloyd Leverett and wife, Freda. Survivors include one daughter, Amelia Leverett of Hope; one sister-in-law, Grady Faye McCaskill of Prescott; two nieces, Toni Ingram and Ronnie of Texarkana of Texarkana; Nancy Dean and Robert of Booneville; one nephew, Jeff Davis and Brenda of Camden; one uncle, Jake Foster and Jeanette of Texarkana, Texas; several great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The graveside service was at 11 a.m., Monday, May 5, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope, with Dr. Phil McLarty and Rev. Wayne Parker officiating. The burial followed. A memorial worship service was at 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 5, at First Presbyterian Church in Hope. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope. The family received friends Sunday, May 4, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazze/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 701 S. Main, Hope, AR 71801. The online guest book is at www.brazzelfuneralhomes.com Joy Chandler Mrs. Joy Carlton Chandler, 60, of Nashville, formerly of Hope, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Christus St. Michael Health System of Texarkana, Texas. She was born on Dec. 7, 1947, in Bodcaw to John Henry and Pearl Clements Carlton. She was a bookkeeper with Hix-Smith/Smith Concrete of Nashville, having received her business degree from the former Red River Vocational Technical College of Hope. She was a member of Union Baptist Church of Bodcaw. She was preceded in death by her father John Henry Carlton and one sister, Brenda Carlton Banks. Her survivors include her husband, Ronald Chandler of Nashville; two daughters, David Riley Lemley and Steve Lemley of Texarkana, Texas; three brothers, Dickie Carlton and Marilyn, Larry Carlton and Lana, Randy Carlton and Sherry, all of Bodcaw; one sister, Jamie Prince of Bodcaw; her brother-in-law, Wayne Banks of Emmet; five grandchildren, Clint, Jessi, Peyton, Seth and Zach; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral services were at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, at Union Baptist Church of Bodcaw, with Rev. Joe Brown officiating. The burial was in Union Cemetery in Bodcaw.
