Just a ThoughtJim FarrisPublished Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in the Gurdon Times What are you doing with what you have? Whether you are rich, poor or somwhere in between we all have things in our lives that matter. As Christians we need to think about what we have and what we are doing with it. Do you appreciate what you have? We all want to do well in life, but sometimes we decide that because we don't have as much as someone else that we have not "arrived" yet. In the Bible, Jesus points out a widow who puts two mites in the offering and points out that she gave more than the others because she gave all. I can hear you, "Heres another preacher going on about money," and my response is that money is really a small part of what I am talking about. We are blessed and I believe those blessings are for more than to make us feel good about our lives. We are blessed so we can be a blessing to others. I do believe in tithing ten percent and giving to missions above that, but what about your time and energy? What about your neighbor who just needs a friend to lean on? What about the person or persons who simply need your prayers? I could fill this paper with senarios in which you could help someone. When most people think of ministry we think about the preacher and relegate such thing to him, but the Bible points out who our neighbor is and that WE should help whenever we can. It's just a thought...but it could change your life. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
