I wish to thank everyone for coming out last Friday for the Grand Opening of your new community pantry, FoodShare Arkansas. It was a great crowd and a wonderful boost for all of us involved in this exciting project.

A special thanks for this occasion goes out to Mary Godwin and the Chamber who also donated the new benches and gorgeous flowers, and to Leadership Nevada County for painting the outside of our building. And thanks to the incredibly talented Jayne Randolph who provided our decorations and sumptuous food.

Many individuals, churches, merchants and organizations have already stepped up with generous support for the pantry. Their names are listed in the FoodShare ad elsewhere in this paper.

As I mentioned in my remarks last Friday, I would not have continued my investment in this project without the sustaining leadership of our director, Mary Russell. Being a full time, unpaid volunteer, she embodies the best of Prescotts giving heart and enterprising spirit. I salute Mary and her family for their sacrificial service, and encourage others to join in to volunteer and invest in this important and worthwhile cause.
