PRESCOTT Herds of wild hogs might be a hunters dream but its a nightmare for city officials.

The hogs in herds as large as two dozen or more have invaded the DeAnn Cemetery. The problem was addressed during a meeting of the Prescott City Council Monday.

The hogs natural tendency to root has created holes but a bigger issue is that some tomb stones have been overturned during the animals foray into the cemetery. Prescott Mayor Howard Taylor said trapping and killing the animals is likely to be the answer.

Were on it, Taylor said. Well get them.

Plans to trap wild hogs in the cemetery have met with limited success. Taylor said one had been caught during the early days of the trapping program.

Prescott resident Gary Roe suggested that the stupid slow one had been caught and that the others might be more difficult to contain.

Taylor said police have been patrolling the area as well.
