Nevada Teams Knocked Out Of Class AA Region 7 Tournament In Gurdon

Both Nevada teams were knocked out of the Class AA Region 7 tournament last week in Gurdon. Caddo Hills won the girls' division and Stephens won in the boys' bracket, was expected.

Nevada's senior boys were the first to get it on the chin, with Centerpoint getting a 79-70 victory on Thursday night.

Nevada led 21-18 after one quarter and 38-37 after two. The score was tied at 51 going into the final period.

Julius Gulley led Nevada with 29 points; Jamaario Beasley scored 18 and Jason Yarbrough made 11 points for the Jays.

Others scoring for Nevada were Marcus Harper with 7 points and Keon Page with 4.

The game's leading scorer was Chris Rice of Centerpoint with 39 points. Charlie Watson helped with 20 points for the winners and David Watson scored 13.
