Woman arrested -- at jailJoe PhelpsPublished Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in the Gurdon Times People normally get arrested then go to jail. But in one case in Clark County, a Gurdon woman did it the other way around she went to jail, then got arrested. Ramona Lynn Laster, 45, of 1309 Dogwood Dr., went to visit an inmate in the Clark County Jail Sunday, April 20, at approximately 7:30 p.m., according to police records filed at the Clark County Sheriffs Office. Clark County Deputy Brian Daniel established contact with Laster as she provided the on-duty dispatcher with identification, to which she reportedly said was hers. Daniel ran the identification through the Arkansas Crime Information Center, and it turned out to belong to Paula Laster, according to the report. It also showed that an active warrant for her arrest existed. Arkadelphia patrolman Thomas Jordan served the warrant and informed Laster that she would be incarcerated until her court date. The record indicates that Laster soon admitted that the identification she had provided was her daughters, and she then correctly identified herself as Ramona Laster. She reportedly told police that she had used her daughters identification because she believed that an active warrant from Little Rock existed for her arrest. Daniel spoke with Laster (Ramona, that is), and she admitted that she knowingly and willingly misidentified herself to avoid being arrested. Daniel issued Laster a citation for obstructing governmental operations and released her after signing her court date, which is set for May 14.
