Collaborative workshop plannedRebekah BellPublished Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in the Gurdon Times Clark County Youth Development Center will sponsor a Community Collaborative Workshop on May 3 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The theme is Enhancing Student Achievement through Parent/Teacher and Community Partnership to Save our Children. Dr. Willie J. Kimmons from Daytona Beach, Florida, a renowned and national motivational speaker, will be the workshop facilitator. The noted author and experienced educator holds a bachelors degree in Health Education and Psychology from Lincoln University, a master degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as the doctorate degree in Education Administration and Supervision, Dekalb, Ill. The workshop is free and open to child care workers, school personnel, pastors, youth leaders, community leaders, parents and anyone interested in the welfare of children and youth. The workshop will be sponsored in partnership with the Cabe Foundation, Hours of Joy Child Care Center, Gurdon Public Schools and Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.
