As a means of taking safety precautions, Gurdon City Marshal Don Childres sounded the citys tornado siren Thursday, April 10, at 9:55 a.m.

Childres, who is in charge of sounding the alarm, had been monitoring the weather when a funnel cloud with signs of rotation was headed toward southwest Clark County in the area of Gurdon, Beirne and Whelen Springs.

I monitored both Channel 4 and Channel 7, Childres said.

He said that meteorologists were warning people in the area to take precautions, so he blew the siren.

The sirens were a tornado precaution. if i didnt blow it and it blew gurdon away, thatd be bad; and if i blew it
