Peggy BurleyPublished Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Peggy McLelland Burley, 65, born Sept. 6, 1932, to Morrison and Thais McLelland in Prescott, passed away April 3, 2008 in Houston, Texas. Peggy graduated from Prescott High School, went on to attend Southern Arkansas University, and graduated from Henderson State Teachers College in 1952. In the early years of her marriage to her late husband, James Douglas Burley, they moved to Houston, Texas and remained in this area for the rest of their lives. Peggy was a Charter Member of Kingwood First Baptist Church, served on the Pastoral Search Committee, and was a KFBC Greeter for many years. She was also secretary for the Kingwood class of Bible study fellowship and a substitute teacher for Humble ISD. Mrs. Burley was preceded in death by Doug, her loving husband of 48 years; her parents; and two sisters. She is survived by her three children, daughter, Stephanie Demaree and her husband Terry of Kingwood; two sons, Brent Burley and his wife, Linda of Humble and Ross Burley and his wife Ramona of Kingwood; four grandchildren, Jeremiah Burley, Christopher and Kimberly Demaree and Jake Burley; and numerous other relatives. The graveside service was at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11 in Liberty Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted by Pharr Funeral Home of Prescott.
