Arkadelphia police arrested a Gurdon man on charges of fraudulent use of a credit card Monday, March 31.

According to a police report filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department, 18-year-old Joshua P. Smith, 379 Hwy 53 N, attempted to buy a pack of gummy bears with a credit card that did not belong to him.

A manager of Atwoods farm supply store called police, requesting an officer to come to the store in regards to someone trying to use a stolen Atwoods credit card, which had been reported stolen by a Gurdon resident.

Arkadelphia police officer Ronnie Land arrived at the store and spoke with Atwoods manager and reviewed a videotape, making positive identification of the suspect, according to the report.

The report indicates that the assistant manager of the store was standing at a cash register with a cashier when the suspect placed a package of gummy bears on the counter to see if the card would work.

The card was declined, so the suspect left the store, according to the report. The assistant manager later observed the suspect getting into a silver car and recorded the numbers from the license plate, which belonged to Smith.
