A trucker who stopped in Prescott for a rest

found himself turning in a block of marijuana to

local officials rather than taking time for a nap.

According to information from the Prescott

Police Department, PPD Chief Brian Russell

and PPD Assistant Chief Ann Jordan were called

to a local truck center on March 27 to collect the

marijuana. The driver, who was not identified in

the report, reportedly told Russell that the truck

had been involved earlier that day in an incident

in Coffeeville, Tenn. According to the report,

another driver had been arrested and a significant

amount of marijuana confiscated. The trucking

company then apparently called on another driver

to pick up the truck and complete the load

delivery. The driver reported that when he

climbed into the sleeper, he uncovered another

brick of marijuana that had apparently been

overlooked in the search conducted in

Coffeeville.

Russell said the driver, not knowing what else

to do with the drugs, called the PPD. Russell and

Jordan picked up the drugs and held them for the

Coffeeville law enforcement.

No arrests were made locally.
