GHS Band wins award four years in a rowAllen WimberlyPublished Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in the Gurdon Times This years seniors are the first class in the history of Gurdon bands to earn the very prestigious ASBOA Sweepstakes Band award all four years of their high school band tenure. This is an enviable feat that many bands wish they could accomplish. However, this years 8th grade class, now members of the High School Band have the same goals and are determined to keep earning the Sweepstakes award. To earn the Sweepstakes award, you must earn superior ratings at the region level in marching, concert and sight reading. The directors are very pleased with all of the band members and the continued support of our administration, faculty, bus drivers, truck drivers that haul equipment for us, the community and last but certainly not least, our fabulous Band Booster organization that works very hard for the entire program.
